Save game and extending the level
This update finally brings the biggest missing feature: there's an automatic save system! It allows one save file and progress is automatically saved at certain points. I chose this simple design, because the game is going to stay small and short, so players likely won't need the ability to manually save and maintain several different save files.
In addition, I extended the level again with a few more challenges. The tutorial got a bit nicer too with a simpler and more visual style relying less on text.
I did a crazy experiment with a more controlled grappling hook behavior where the grappling hook would only attach to certain predefined points and there was a kind of snapping/auto aim so that the player could hit them. The idea was that I could construct more elaborate and complex challenges if I could control the grappling hook's behavior better. I put a lot of effort into it, but when I was testing it myself, it just felt really lame. Part of the fun of this is probably that you're learning to control the grappling hook yourself I guess. But I would really need to find some more players to test the game and give feedback on that.
That's all for now, cheers!
